ENTERTAINMENT IN MENORCA

In Menorca there isn’t much entertainment, so all the people more or less do the same. Some of the entertainment can only be done in some seasons.

On the one hand, the first and the most important thing in Menorca is the summer, because we have the famous “Fiestas”, the beaches and the sun which make our free time more enjoyable.

The Fiestas are a traditional festival where we can find horses, a lot of people and have a lot of fun. They consist of a “Jaleo”which is a horse jumping in the square of a town and all the people there following it, it’s so much fun that we haven’t words to describe it. What’s more, the beaches and the sea are a great place to spend time. A lot of people have boats and they enjoy spending time sailing to unspoilt beaches.

On the other hand, in winter we haven’t much to do. If you don’t have a good imagination often you don’t know how to spend your free time. Most of the activities that you can do cost money and the teenagers can’t spend a lot, so our fun depends on our parents’ pockets. People like going to the cinema to watch modern films. We can also go bowling...but the biggest disadvantage is that you have to pay. Well, others enjoy going to the skate park where they can meet friends, and it’s free. But not all the teenagers like it. You can also go on excursions or go for a walk to the beach with friends. You can can visit exhibitions on art, literature, music or photography.

At night we can go to the pubs in the harbour where there are a lot of people like us, we dance and spend a great time there. We often have dinners with our friends.

To sum up, we think that Menorca in winter isn’t very enjoyable but it is a lot better in summer when a lot of tourists come here and the island becomes a more entertaining place.
