The most recent and polemic case of this “ mercy killing” has been starred by Ray Gosling, a former TV news presenter who confessed that he had killed someone once. He explained that the victim was his lover who cas in terrible pain ad the doctors said there was nothing they could do. When alone, Ray picked up a pillow and smothered him.

Euthanasia means ending a person’s life for their benefit. It is a painless way to finish their life and prevent them from suffering unrelievably. This issue has been very controversial, with arguments for and against.

On the one hand, those that approve of euthanasia take into account that it is the patient who requests doctors to do so.

On the other hand,some people consider it a murder as you kill and finish with the life of a human being. Moreover, it is sometimes thought that we can never lose hope that if for example, a patient goes into coma, he can wake up one day Religion has a very strong opinion about it. Catholic church believes that we can’t choose if one person has to die or live as we are all created by God and He is the one who has to decide when we have to leave this world.

We think that lately there are more and more people who have changed their opinion and approve of euthanasia under certain circumstances. For example, when patients suffer from a terminal illness or an incurable condition.

From our point of view, we approve of euthanasia to stop patients from suffering painful and incurable diseases. . We do believe that it is up to the patient to make this decision: to decide what he wants to do with his life. We are completely against the Catholic church when it says that we have to believe that God is the only one who can decide when it is our moment to die.

We consider euthanasia an act of bravery not of cowardy.
