On the last day of a project meeting, usually historical sightseeing is on the programme. Our German hosts chose Gotha, and especially its castle, for several guided tours.
Excerpt of the programme:
Daytrip: A journey in Thuringia’s cultural past: Gotha 8:02 Departure – journey with the local tramway “Waldbahn” 9:00-12:00 visit of Gotha in 5 small international groups: each group can attend 2 guided tours: - Fashion and court etiquette during the Baroque Period (castle Friedenstein) - The historical research Library (castle Friedenstein) - The underground defence fortification (castle Friedenstein–Kasematte) - City of Gotha
A train took all participants, about 80 pupils, teachers, guides and reporters from the school club, to the city centre.

Then a steep climbing to the top .....

It took Yves Cassagnes, the German coordinator, some time to get all those visitors organised .....

The reporters from Salzmannschule’s Radio Club were there too.

One group visiting the castle’s fortifications.

The fashion show by our European pupils:

After the guided tours, the castle’s masterpieces could be toured:
Lucas Cranach’s paintings, who lived in Gotha:

The "Gothaer Liebespaar" (Gotha Lovers) which dates back to 1484 and is the oldest painting with two people in one picture.

Absolutely necessary to tour the magnificent rooms:

The oldest baroque theatre in Europe, featuring historic stage equipment which dates back to 1681.
