This secondary school is located in Alaior, a small city in Menorca.

Pupils prepared a tourist brochure of their island.

It was named Josep Miquel Guardia after a well-known local man of letters and also a doctor.

The school is 20 years old. There are around 400 pupils and 63 teachers. Pupils are from 12 to 18 years old. You can study the four years of compulsory secondary education, one vocational training course on commerce, a pre-vocational training course and baccalaureate.

Most subjects are taught in Catalan, our mother tongue. Other languages that are taught are Spanish, English and German. Most pupils are bilingual as both Spanish and Catalan are our official languages. We welcome pupils from different countries such as Britain, Germany, South American and the North of Africa. In fact, our municipality was the first one to host immigration in the island. Both the English and the South-American communities are quite big in the area.

In this school there are programmes and resources for pupils with special needs or learning difficulties and for those who can’t speak Catalan.
