Irans Nuclear Enrichment

It is an issue discussed all over the world, and every nation has another attitude towards it: Iran’s Nuclear Programme

Although the USA was one of the supporters in the 1950s, when the programme started, now they are the ones looking at it more disliking than many other nations. No wonder, as they back then were gaining influence through supporting it, now they would lose it. If Iran started to enrich its own Uranium, they would gain independence from many countries, which is in the interest of the ones, and not of the others. Even though this is not an official reason for being against a self-enrichment of Uranium in Iran, it still is reasonable.

One of the proclaimed reasons is the fear of Iran building nuclear weapons. Iran claims not to enrich it’s Uranium over a rate of 80%, which is the minimum to build a nuclear weapon, but up to 20%. Still, due to several unofficial nuclear plants discovered in Iran in the last few years, it is one of the major points discussed.

Another reason beside this is the point of safety. It deals with the question, if Irans nuclear plants are up to date in terms of securing safety for workers and civilians. Although Iran lets itself be inspected by the I.A.E.O (International Atomic Energy Organization), the question of maybe existing unofficial or underground reactors is still up-to-date.

While to the West all this seems very suspicious, the East, especially China, was in favour of Iran establishing itself in this direction. They said they want Iran to become competitive in the world market. Now they move up to the aims of the USA, and also prepare sanctions for Iran.

Britain, China, France, Russia the United States plus Germany are playing in the same league now - more or less – they all offer negotiations with Iran, some more, others less.

Iran itself says that they only came up with this idea, because no country would be willing to enrich their Uranium. On the other hand France and the USA were said to be the countries meant to enrich it. Lately, negotiations were made and again France and the USA were decided to be the nations enriching Irans Uranium.

If Iran starts enriching their own Uranium, or not, the future wil show.
