It’s all over the news: Obama´s health care reform. But First of all we should explain what the health care system in the USA is like at the moment and why a reform is needed. Most Americans are insured through their jobs. This means that the employer pays the health coverage for their workers. In fact 59% of all Americans are insured this way. But only 19% have a governmental health insurance. And 6% are insured privately. The most appalling fact is that 18% of all Americans are not insured. This means that many of them such as illegal workers and people with low income or no job can’t afford proper health care. This leads to many problems like a high child mortality rate even though children are governmentally insured but many inhabitants just don’t sign their children up. For this reason, Obama improved his precursors plan to combat this problems. His main aims are to improve the insurance for all Americans, no matter whether they have health insurance or not. He tries to lower the costs of individuals, families and businesses. Also to prevent medical service so if there was an accident help can be provided quickly. The new insurance will of course have a huge impact on the lives of the citizens. Not only will everybody be insured. But also the government will have struggle with paying enough support for the people with low income. Because of this the taxes might rise. Another problem is that still in 2017 31 million will be uninsured. The reactions of the people are split in to two opinions. On one hand the people want the new insurance system because they think that a new insurance will lower the costs for them selves and also improve the living conditions. The ones who are against it fear not only the rise of taxes but also the invasion in their privacy. Also they think that if there is a governmental health care the state will gain too much power on its citizens.
