THE NATURAL PARK OF CONERO The Natural Park of Conero is like a stage of rare beauty that includes a line of high coast (a large inside hill strip), characterized by panoramic views and a lot of history. The promontory jutting out into Adriatic is the most unique from Trieste to Gargano. The eastern slopes on the sea are formed by calcareous cliffs and in the rest of the vast Mediterranean formation and mixed woods. Notable the riches and the variety of flora and fauna and cultural treasure. The Park of Conero has many botanical characteristics like violaciocca and wild fennel. Between mammalian species you can observe the badger, the polecat, the fox, the hedgehog, etc. This park is well known for the migration of the birds of prey; you can also practice bird watching here. In the IV century AD, the Doric people got ashore in this area and founded a city; they lived here and called the promontory Komaros (arbutus) and the northern curve of the mountain Ancon (elbow). There are very interesting architectural buildings which date back to the Roman period (Church of San Ciriaco, Church of Santa Maria, De Bosis tower and a Napoleonic Blockhouse).
